* See "Changes.TXT" for important info!
* Checkout the web site at HTTP://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~dominicc
for the very latest info, or call (modem) +44(0)1202 434121
* Setting Up HBBS
First thing you have to do after unarchiving is to run the script called
"Setup" found in the same directory as this. Just double click
it from workbench...
It will set some temporary assigns up and ask you for a screenmode
to run the BBS on. (you can change this any time..)
(note: have a look at the scripts file in a text editor to see
how to get the assigns added to your user-startup file so they
are permanent)
Next you should look at the following files and settings in them
HBBS:BBSGlobal
HBBS:Nodes/NodeGlobal
HBBS:Nodes/NodeX/NodeLocal
HBBS:Nodes/NodeX/Device
(pay paticular attention to SerialDevice= in the "device" file)
The configs have been set up for 4 nodes
Nodes 0 and 3 use nullmodem.device
Node 1 uses the USRSerial.device
as does Node2, but Node2 is set up to use a NULL modem cable!! (Cool!)
(to login on a null modem cable link, connect an null modem cable
between your amiga's (3 wire is fine, pins: 2-3,3-2,7-7), load up a
terminal program on one, and hbbs on the other, start up the node
and on the one with the terminal progra, just press return!)
(All device drivers includes in HBBS:System/Amiga/Devs, but you
*don't* need to move them to devs:)
Then to start up the system double click on the "CONTROL" icon and a screen
should pop up..
To start a node, select the node from the list of nodes on the left hand side
and either a) double click it, or b) click the start button just to the right
of the listview
* Creating A Sysop Account
Once you have started a node, go to the watch screen and press F1 to
do a local login.
Login as the person you want to be the sysop.
Go through all the normal new-user stuff as you would normally
When you get to the BBS Prompt, press F6 to bring up on-line
account editing.
From here, change your access level to 255
Press V to Validate your account.
Create a file in HBBS:Access/Users/<yourhandle> with your sysop
access settings in (e.g. UnlimitedTime=YES...)
* For Normal users
To edit a users account. Use F6 to get the account editor.
Set the access level to the normal user's access level (e.g. 50)
Set the file upload/download ratio's accordingly.
Set the users time allowed setting
Press V to validate the account.
